STORYLINE:
Hundreds of demonstrators gathered in Milan, Italy on Tuesday demanding freedom for Iran.
Protestors were seen waving the Lion and Sun flag, Iran's former flag that was replaced after the 1979 revolution, and calling on U.S. President Donald Trump to act against the ruling Ayatollah.
A group of men were also seen cutting out the symbol of the Islamic Republic at the center of Iran's current tricolor, before tearing the flag to pieces.
In Rome, the Lion and Sun flag was projected onto a building in the city center and protestors held a sit-in.
The protests came as the death toll from nationwide protests in Iran spiked Tuesday to at least 2,000 people killed, according to activists.
More than 600 protests have taken place across all of Iran’s 31 provinces, the Human Rights Activists News Agency reported Tuesday.
Many European countries announced Tuesday that they had summoned their Iranian ambassadors and the EU outlined new sanctions on Iranian officials.

STORYLINE:
Hundreds of protesters marched through central Paris on Sunday in a show of solidarity with protesting Iranians, who began demonstrations in Iran on Dec. 28 over the collapse of the Iranian rial currency.
Many waved Iranian flags and some also carried Israeli flags as the protesters made their way towards the famous Trocadero landmark.
Iran’s parliament speaker warned Sunday that the U.S. military and Israel would be “legitimate targets” if the U.S. strikes the Islamic Republic over the ongoing protests roiling the country, as threatened by U.S. President Donald Trump.
Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf made the threat after nationwide protests challenging Iran’s theocracy saw protesters flood the streets in the country’s capital and its second-largest city into Sunday morning, crossing the two-week mark.
At least 203 people have died in violence surrounding the demonstrations, activists said, with fears the death toll is far higher.
With the internet down in Iran and phone lines cut off, gauging the demonstrations from abroad has grown more difficult.
Those abroad fear the information blackout is emboldening hard-liners within Iran's security services to launch a bloody crackdown.
