One of Russia's oldest nature reserves, the Sikhote-Alin Nature Reserve is situated in the eastern and central branches of the Sikhote-Alin mountain range. With an area of more than 4,000 square kilometres, the nature reserve is home to more than 1149 species of plants, 44 species of fish, some 390 species and subspecies of birds and 62 species of mammals.
